Our Reptiles
Snakes are also known as ophidians and are cold-blooded legless reptiles closely related to lizards. A love of snakes is called ophiophilia, a fear of snakes is called ophidiophobia. A specialist in snakes is an ophiologist.
Like many other reptiles lizards are mistaken for being slimy when really they are dry, as their skin has no pores capable of exuding fluid lubricants.
Tarantula is the common name for a group of hairy, sometimes very large spiders. They mainly eat insects and other arthropods.
